A Tale of Two Torres

08/26/06:
Torre said he doesn't expect to use eight-time All-Star closer Mariano Rivera for more than one inning in any game the rest of the way.

08/27/06:
Rivera: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 K.

It's kind of like when the crack addict says they want to give up crack. You know the crackhead means it when he says it but the next day it's hard to deny himself some delicious, delicious crack.

And Rivera's manager has never allowed him to pad his stats to win a post-
season award as others have done (& are doing today). Rivera could've easily piled up more total "saves" than the others. Remember what all the baseball media AND Bartolo Colon said
after Mo didn't win the Cy Young last year: "Maybe Rivera didn't have enough
'saves.'"

June: I was OK with Mo coming out for the 8th. There was no reason to use him again. I actually thought "hey, Torre's being smart here.. he's using Mo in the 8th - his best reliever - when he's needed." but I was wrong.

Susan - Colon didnt's deserve the Cy last year, and if you go bavck to my posts at that time, my picks were Santana 1, Mo 2. The fact that wins were the determining factor was disgusting, and goes to show that those who vote don't have a damned clue.

I heard Pavano and Karsay were each throwing no no's into the ninth in the Tampa Simulation League championship game.
