Why Is LaRussa Batting His Worst Hitter Leadoff?
David Eckstein's .350 OBP is good enough for 96th amoungst players who qualify for the batting title. He's not "speedy" (7 steals). He has no power (2 HR). It also seems as if he can't sacrifice (bunted horribly and got a fielder's choice). posted by Mr. Faded Glory @ 2:06 PM 5 comments | L I N K S soft

BECAUSE HE'S SCRAPPY GOOD GOD HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING IN YOUR YEARS OF WATCHING THE BASEBALL?
ps in all seriousness i think it's because he LOOKS like he runs fast because his arms and legs flap so quickly.
also in all seriousness he is usually one of the unstrikingoutest players in all of baseball. too lazy to look up his actual #s but he swings and misses like .000000000001% of the time.
not that that alone justifies batting him leadoff, but i'm just telling you what LaGenius may have been thinking.
all year.
So who do you who propose to lead off? The only people in the lineup with a better OBP are Duncan, Pujols, and Rolen (Edmonds is tied).
